2019 Young Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award recipient Carol Fike '10

Carol Fike ’10 - An Illinois native, Carol has family roots in the Church of the Brethren. While pursuing degrees in special education and elementary education at Manchester, Carol was active in student government and the Student Education Association, Symphonic Band, Handbell Choir and Indiana Reading Corps. Her deepest connections, however, were with campus ministry as student chapel assistant and a member of Campus Interfaith Board and Simply Brethren. Today she is a special education teacher at DeKalb High School north of Fort Wayne, where she volunteers with Special Olympics. Carol was one of three coaches for a DeKalb County Special Olympics basketball team that won a gold medal in the USA Special Olympics Games in 2018.


The Young Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes Manchester University alumni, age 31-40, who:

  • demonstrate outstanding leadership in their careers,
  • contribute to the betterment of their community and its citizens, and
  • retain a strong alliance with the University.
